EKMH Innovators Interview Series: 2020 Blockchain Predictions Week
An interview series spotlighting global tech influencers, disruptors, visionaries, and of course, innovators.
‘Tis the season for reflections and looking ahead to the new year. To celebrate the holidays, this week the Innovators Series focuses on the Blockchain, Crypto and Fintech predictions of mavericks and mavens in the sector.
Next up, Barcelona-based Capital Cell Director Daniel Oliver opines on what 2020 holds for fintech:
As for predictions, I feel most of my predictions of the past couple of years have been kinda off…But let me be wrong if I must:
*I do not see cryptocurrencies taking off in any serious way during 2020, given the crude approach of the regulators worldwide
*I would expect crowdfunding to stabilise and grow (at least in Europe), after a slightly weak year, and I would imagine a few mergers between competing companies
*2020 will surely be a great year for neobanks, which are certain to attract quite a bit of investment
*2020 will hopefully be a year where crowdlending will lose some dead weight (old platforms with little credit quality) and see more modern platforms rise in number, quality and size.
