EKMH Innovators Interview Series: 2020 Blockchain Predictions Week
An interview series spotlighting global tech influencers, disruptors, visionaries, and of course, innovators.
‘Tis the season for reflections and looking ahead to the new year. To celebrate the holidays, this week the Innovators Series focuses on the Blockchain, Crypto and Fintech predictions of mavericks and mavens in the sector. Today CasperLabs Co-Founder and CTO Medha Parlikar shares her view of blockchain sphere in the future:
*It will take 7 more years for blockchain to begin crossing the chasm to mainstream adoption.
*Looking back at the .com era, and mapping that to crypto, we are in 2001 (single boom bust cycle has happened). It's safe to say that real use cases for Internet came with social media applications and mobile, which was ~ 2008 with the introduction of iPhone. Seven years is aggressive IMHO, it may even take as long as ten. We also have regulatory guidance that is missing, further complicating the adoption curve. Content delivery didn't take off until bandwidth also improved. I think we have the same issue with Blockchain and scaling. CasperLabs’ scaling solution should also help this.
*And looking into the more distant future… Hopefully, in seven years CasperLabs will have a nice service model helping enterprise companies adopt blockchain technology to realize benefits in their businesses. Our role in the public chain will have diminished to a set of SMEs and the community has assumed primary control.
